Community Employment Program

Through the Employment First Grant, the Rochelle Center provides training & supports to move participants served in sheltered workshops to employment in the business community.

In July 2013, Shawn was hired as a dishwasher for the weekends and holidays, at the International House of Pancakes (IHOP). Shawn likes the feeling of being more independent & loves the extra money he earns. When Shawn was asked what are the best parts of having a job, he stated “It’s like having a home away from home & I’m saving my money to take my father and his dog on a camping trip this summer”. Not only is Shawn happy with his job but so is his employer. IHOP manager, Christina, stated that “Shawn is doing a good job, has a great attitude and is willing to help out where ever needed.”

Shawn is just one of the success stories in the Community Employment Program. If you have an open position at your work place, we have several clients who want and have the ability to work in a community employment setting.
