Rochelle Center Dedicates Sensory Garden to Pam Tillis

rochellegarden2The Rochelle Center dedicated their new Sensory Garden in honor of Pam Tillis, musician and long standing volunteer for the center. Friends of Rochelle, volunteers and supporters gathered to sample a selection of food and teas made from herbs in the garden. The new garden would not be standing without the generous contribution from the Ford Motor Company Fund. Jim Graham and his team believed in the concept, and stepped up by giving Rochelle the grant to make this dream a reality.

pamtillisgardenDebbie Chadwick, President of Rochelle Center, envisioned the idea for a place where citizens could watch, touch, smell, and feel the miracles of nature while working the soil and reaping the benefit of their labor. The garden was created by Girl Scout, Hannah Kimbro, a sophmore at Father Ryan.  In Roxanne Coats McDonald’s (Board Chair), speech, she thanked Hannah for her hard work,”She has designed and more importantly loved every inch of the garden… the design, the plants, the benches, the colors. If that wasn’t enough, she made the benches, and the elevated beds along with her Dad. This wasn’t any easy task, and if you know Hannah you understand her drive and ambition. She will not settle for less than the best! She is an amazing young woman who will be responsible for the garden for the next two years. Thank you, Hannah for your hard work and dedication.”

The ceremony ended with the dedication to Pam Tillis, an avid gardener. She is the creator and the founder behind Pop Goes Rochelle and Pam Tillis presents An All-Star Salute to Hee-Haw. Rochelle Center is proud to dedicate the Sensory Garden to their friend and supporter. For more photos from the event, visit our Facebook page here.
