Tennessean : Chukkers For Charity Proceeds To Benefit the Rochelle Center and Saddle Up!
Friday, June 18, 2010 at 9:00PM FRANKLIN — It's not East Egg, but come Saturday, Riverview Farm will look like it belongs in the world of Nick, Jay and Daisy in The Great Gatsby.
The 14th annual Chukkers for Charity polo match, which raises money for children and adults who have disabilities, will have a sophisticated Gatsby flavor this year. Patrons are urged to don 1920s attire.
Gates open at 2:30 p.m., with a car show from 3 to 4:30. The opening ceremony will begin at 4:45, with the polo match kicking off at 5. Nic Roldan, the highest ranking American polo star and the youngest winner of the U.S. Open polo championship, will be featured in the match.
There also will be a silent auction where people can place bids on artwork and other items.
Kids' activities include a petting zoo and games.
Proceeds will benefit the Rochelle Center, a nonprofit that helps adults who have developmental disabilities become self-reliant, and Saddle Up, a recreational therapeutic horseback riding program.
Tickets to this year's Chukkers for Charity, at 1475 Moran Road, can be purchased online at www.chukkersforcharity.net or by calling 615-423-5662. General admission tickets are $10 each. Ages 9 and younger will be admitted for free.
